About Us
The Features of Celeste Orthodontia
CONCEPT1Orthodontics based on academic evidence with experienced orthodontist
Our chief doctor had been working at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), the top dental school in Japan, for 25 years. Our doctors dedicated to clinics there and treated many difficult cases, since many local clinics send those to TMDU, which local dentists cannot treat. Thus, we are experienced to handle those cases. Besides, we have be participating in much basic research at TMDU, which let us update the latest academic knowledge.
CONCEPT2Flexible and custom-made treatment goal under careful consultation
We place high importance on communication with patients, so we devote time to listen the demand of patients, and then set the personal treatment plan for them. We consider not only the medical factors (such as occlusion, medical profile, and masticatory function…), but also the social factors. The social factors mean the situation of schools or work, and the financial condition. If orthodontics does not provide a good deal to the patient; for example, spending much money and time with little improvement of appearance; we would rather persuade them not to be treated.
CONCEPT3Do not suggest too early orthodontics to children
Recently, A treatment method called “Syou-Kyousei” (means plate orthodontics)”is
very popular in Japan. Many dentists dedicating this method advocate that “dental arch expansion
starting from early ages (under 10 years old) can prevent teeth extraction hereafter” and promote it
with relatively lower price to incite parents. This is a specious theory. In severe crowding cases,
early arch expansion does not serve much since space gain is not enough to align, so teeth extraction
should be considered after all. On the contrary, for slight crowding cases, orthodontics can be easily
completed whenever the treatment start. Even in some cases occlusion will improve naturally during
growth ages.
Moreover, since the treatment should be finished after all adult teeth have erupted
(12 y/o~), starting treatment too early elongates the treatment span uselessly. So, the point is
evaluating the severity correctly and judging the optical timing of treatment start, not to deliver any
orthodontic appliance to children immediately. Therefore, we suggest only “early orthodontic
consultation” for child patient, and hereafter “regular follow up” without orthodontic device until the
best timing of treatment has come.
CONCEPT4Orthodontics adapted to whole ages
One common myth about orthodontic is that it is a treatment for young generation. In fact, teeth can
be moved even in 60s~70s patients. Elders have more troubles of periodontics or dental decays.
Preliminary orthodontic treatment can help preparing adjacent teeth, thus the result of
general dental treatment to fix these troubles become much better, esthetically and functionally.
However, the periodontal tissue is more fragile than younger ones, so it is necessary to perform
orthodontics under lower force and more careful management. That is why more orthodontists hesitate
to do it. Our doctors are very experienced to orthodontics in higher ages, so all elder patients can
be treated with comfort.
CONCEPT5Rebuilding occlusion after missing teeth
Another myth about orthodontics is that it is a cosmetic treatment to improve facial appearance. Actually, esthetic is only one aspect of orthodontics, orthodontics serves to resolve other general dental problems. First, before we need to have prosthodontic treatment (putting crown/ bridge/ implant), orthodontic can help aligning and correcting the axis of adjacent teeth. Second, tooth with too large decay tends to be extracted, but orthodontics can move it coronally (forced eruption) and preserve it. Third, when we have no choice but to remove the tooth, orthodontics can move adjacent teeth close the tooth removed space. So, we can rebuild function without putting in any artificial crown/bridge. These fields of orthodontics may be treated by partial appliances mostly to cut the cost.
CONCEPT6Opening hours and location with high convenience
Our clinic is open on Saturday, Sunday, and Japanese national holidays. On weekdays, we also open until pm 8:30. Since most orthodontic patients are office-workers and students, it let them feel easy to come. If there are any troubles of appliances during treatment, we can take emergency manage as soon as possible.
The Origin of Our Name
The name of the clinic, “CELESTE”, is an Italian word.
The original meaning is the
adjective of “sky” or “sky-blue” and is derived “heavenly”.
Sky-blue is a color recalling
cleanliness, freshness, and relaxation.
We expect that the smile after orthodontics let
patients have the feeling like a fair blue sky, thus give this name.
The logo mark is inspired by the orthodontic fixation (ligature) wires.
There are many
motifs correlative to ligature in Japanese cultures, such as “Shimenawa” and “Mizuhiki”, which
symbolize ties and connection between people.
We orthodontists tie ligature wires every
appointment, this little action symbolizes an engagement with patients.
This mark also
recalls ribbon. Ribboned tooth represents a present. We expect our orthodontic treatment is a
supreme present that we can give to the patient.
